Three area residents face felony arson charges

MARINETTE – Two Crivitz residents and a Suring resident have been charged with felony arson stemming from a blaze that destroyed one of the defendants’ Marinette County home on June 11, 2011. Drew S. Christensen, 28, Suring; Jessica A. Miller, 37, Crivitz;, and Donald A. Halbur Jr., 32, Crivitz, are each charged with arson of building with intent to defraud – PTAC, as party to a crime.
If convicted, each may face a fine of up to $100,000, imprisonment of up to 40 years, or both.
According to a complaint filed in Marinette County Circuit Court – on Oct. 8, 2012, Christensen admitted to Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation agents to setting Miller’s home on fire last year.
The DCI agents first interviewed Christensen following a 2012 fire at an Oconto County tavern – which also happened to be owned by Miller.
According to the investigators’ report, Christensen admitted to setting the tavern ablaze, and also Miller’s residence, which was located on Schroeder Lane in the Town of Stephenson, a year earlier.
