Friday Morning Fire at Michigan Tech

Fire reported in library on MTU campus

HOUGHTON — Authorities in Houghton were on the scene at a fire on the Michigan Technological University campus on Friday at around 11:50 a.m.

The fire was located in the Michigan Tech Archives and Copper Country Collections, according to university officials. We received reports of a lot of smoke in the building. There is no word yet on any injuries or the cause of the fire, but crews were able to extinguish the blaze quickly, according to Michigan Tech Chief of Police Dan Bennett.
