The U. S. Postal Service sent out letters to the customers of the Pound Post Office under the zip code of 54161.
“The U. S. Postal Service has established a review process for certain post Offices known as the Post Plan. The Pound Post Office was among the offices evaluated under the Post Plan Criteria.”
The Postal Service also sent residents a survey to determine the best course of action for the customers involved. After receiving the results of the survey they will make a decision on the future of the postal services. Options if backed by a majority of customers (more than 60%) would be to close the post office. The plan intends for now to keep the post office open with window service of hours during weekdays. Current Saturday window service and access to mail receptacles will not change.
In addition to the survey there is a meeting planned at the Pound Village Hall on October 26,2012 at 5:30 pm. Questions and additional information can be answered for the customers involved. The village Hall is located at 1013 County Rd Q, Pound, Wis. 54161.
A final decision will not be made until after the public meeting is held.
Surveys are to be returned by October 12, 2012
In the letter they also say they are seeking local businesses or organizations to serve as a contractor-operated postal retail units in many communities. Anyone interested in operating a postal retail unit can visit http://about.usps.com/news/electronic-press-kits/our-future-network/welcome.htm for more information.
From the above information they seem to be planning their future .
The letter was sent from James A, Brown, Postplan Coordinator in Wausau Wis.
