The area is marking Labor Day with a variety of events and celebrations this weekend. They include:
ROCK
The Rock Lions will host the annual Labor Day Celebration today in downtown Rock on M-35. This year’s parade theme is “Deer Season” and begins at 10 a.m.
ESCANABA
The 37th Annual U.P. Steam and Gas Engine Association Show began Friday in Escanaba and continues through Monday. A variety of activities and displays are planned. The event features displays and demonstrations of antique steam engines, gasoline engines, tractors, and other farm machinery. The steam and gas engine museum is open along with the antique village.
NAHMA
The Nahma Labor Day celebration is scheduled for Sunday at the Nahma Township Hall. The parade start is 11 a.m. Activities include games, craft tables, Abra Cadabra jumps, 5th annual hot rod/classic car show, and music from the Generations from 1-3 and 4-8 p.m. Food will also be served.
CORNELL
Cornell’s annual Labor Day Bridge Walk, along with the township fire department, will be held on Monday. The doors at the town hall will open at 10:30 a.m. The walk starts at 11 a.m. A potluck will be held after the walk, so bring a dish to pass and your own table silverware and drinks. The public is welcome to attend. For more information call 384-0103.
