MEDICINE HAT, Alberta, Aug. 16 (UPI) –  Alberta, a Canadian  province that takes pride in being rat free, revealed Wednesday a colony of  Norway rats had been found in the Medicine Hat landfill.
WALPOLE, Mass., Aug. 15 (UPI) –  A Massachusetts baker is in  a dispute with the farmer’s market where she sells her wares for refusing to  take Electronic Benefit Transfer cards for her pies.
DENVER, Aug. 15 (UPI) –  Animal authorities in Colorado said  they are deciding whether to return a dog left on top of a mountain to the owner  who left her there.
BAYOU CORNE, La., Aug. 15 (UPI) –  Scientists in Louisiana  said they are trying to identify the cause of a massive sinkhole that led to a  mandatory evacuation order for more than 300 people.
HAWTHORNE, Fla., Aug. 15 (UPI) –  Police in Florida said a  woman rammed her boyfriend’s van with her truck because she was angry at him for  looking at another woman’s behind.
SASKATOON, Saskatchewan, Aug. 15 (UPI) –  A suspected  Canadian truck thief in Saskatchewan has learned police dogs can sniff him out  even if he hides in a dog kennel.
MIAMI, Aug. 15 (UPI) –  Miami police said they are  investigating after someone stole 500 canaries from a man’s home and sold them  to local pet stores.
MILLVILLE, N.J., Aug. 15 (UPI) –  Authorities in New Jersey  said the dozens of birds that fell from the sky were killed by a pesticide used  legally on a nearby farm.
