With two outs and nobody on in the ninth Wednesday night, Omar Vizquel singled off Jose Valverde. Vizquel thus moved within six hits of Babe Ruth on the all-time hit list.

Then Vizquel made the final out of the game the same way Ruth made the final out in Game 7 of the 1926 World Series:

He was thrown out trying to steal second.

Catcher Alex Avila’s strong throw finished Valverde’s 100th Tigers save, Anibal Sanchez’s second Tigers win and the Tigers’ 3-2 victory over Toronto.
