Paul Menard, RCR team hit with points penalty, suspensions for illegal parts
PUBLISHED 47 minutes and 53 seconds agoNASCAR penalized driver Paul Menard 25 points and suspended crew chief Slugger Labbe and two crewmen for six weeks for an illegally modified frame on the Richard Childress Racing No. 27 car used Sunday at Michigan International Speedway.
Menard, who has an outside shot to make the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, saw those chances grow even slimmer after Wednesday’s penalties, which came after NASCAR took his car for a random inspection at NASCAR’s research and development center following his ninth-place finish Sunday.
