MADISON, Wis. — The four GOP candidates locked in a bitter fight for a chance at Wisconsin’s open U.S. Senate seat put their sniping on hold during their last debate Friday, describing nearly identical positions instead of taking shots at each other.The struggle between former Gov. Tommy Thompson, millionaire hedge fund investor Eric Hovde, former Congressman Mark Neumann and state Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald had been growing increasingly bitter over the last few weeks as polls showed Thompson’s lead over Hovde shrinking and the candidates worked to position themselves as the most conservative.
The debate Friday marked the candidates’ last meeting ahead of Tuesday’s primary election. It produced almost no friction, though, as the candidates delivered conservative talking points as interchangeable as the dark suits, white shirts and red ties they all wore.

U.S. Senate Republican Primary Debate
I wanted to get the video up for anyone who has not seen it. Eric Hovde absolutely dominated the debate, in my opinion. It really is a credit to Hovde and his staff that he is so knowledgeable and prepared after having just entered politics for the first time. His business experience is a desperately needed commodity right now in the Senate.
