APPLETON – Update as of 7:00 pm Saturday:
A 61-year-old Appleton man is dead after he was shot by a police officer.
Police say the shooting, which happened yesterday evening, was in self defense when the man wouldn’t drop his gun.
Neighbors are reacting to the incident with shock and surprise.
Scattered police tape litters the 100 block of East Spring Street in Appleton. That’s where neighbors say they saw police and heard gun shots Friday night.
