Just a quick shout-out (if I’m not too old to use the phrase “shout-out”) for Aaron Rodriguez, a Wisconsin blogger who’s been doing yeoman’s work in his Milwaukee Journal Sentinel gig– the kind of independent reporting we need lots and lots more of. Here’s a bit of his latest:
Underage students may have signed Racine recall petitions
If you were an underage student looking to sign a recall petition, Racine might have been the place for you prior to last month’s recall election.
Youth Empowered in the Struggle (YES), the student arm of Voces de la Frontera, left its political footprint on the June 5 recall election by reportedly knocking on more than 8,100 doors and speaking with more than 3,600 people. The official tally in Racine’s recall race has state Sen. Van Wanggaard losing to John Lehman by about 800 votes.
