Trial begins in ATM break-in case

By GARRETT NEESE – DMG writer (gneese@mininggazette.com) , The Daily Mining GazetteHOUGHTON – The trial of a Dollar Bay man accused of attempting to break into an ATM in South Range began in Houghton County Circuit Court Monday.
Gordon Lewis, 20, is accused of attempted safe-cracking at Miner’s State Bank Oct. 3, 2011. The crime is a five-year felony. He also has a trial pending on felony charges of larceny in a building.
Monday included testimony from Paden Rothenberger, who was sentenced to a year in jail in March for his role in the attempted break-in. Testifying against Lewis was part of Rothenberger’s plea bargain.
