Home supply rivalry heats up in Metro Detroit
Menards plans 4 area stores to challenge Lowe’s, Home Depot

Michigan’s home improvement battle is about to intensify as Wisconsin-based Menards prepares to invade Metro Detroit by launching four stores in a region where it has no presence.
Stores in Warren, Livonia, Belleville and Chesterfield Township will open sometime next year, Menards spokesman Jeff Abbott said.
The traditionally more rurally located home improvement retailer — which has 22 stores in Michigan — will fight against home improvement behemoths Home Depot and Lowe’s.
