Wisconsin: Senate narrowly rejects mining bill
Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel ^ | 3/6/12 | Patrick Marley and Lee Bergquist
Posted on Tue Mar 06 2012 18:02:19 GMT-0600 (Central Standard Time) by Jean SMadison – The state Senate rejected mining legislation Tuesday designed to ease the regulatory path for a large open pit mine in northern Wisconsin.
The vote was another setback for the effort to streamline mining regulations, but legislative leaders still cling to hope they can approve a bill before the legislative session ends next week.
The measure senators rejected 17-16 was a version that the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee had approved Monday. Majority Republicans hope to send the matter to a legislative committee later Tuesday so they can bring it up another day.
Sen. Dale Schultz (R-Richland Center) voted with all Democrats to reject the measure.

Not one Democrat voted to put me back to work and save my house from foreclosure. You will be voted out of office as soon as possible. Shame, shame, shame on you.
